How to Properly Pack your Clothing for your Next Adventure

 In Uncategorized

Imperial Trailer Village is an RV Park in Los Angeles, California that supports your urge for adventure. To help you in packing for your future road trips we have gathered some tips when it comes to properly packing your clothing.

Stuff your Shoes

Shoes often take up more room than anything else in a plastic or suitcase but they have lots of empty space inside. Stuff smaller items such as underwear and socks inside your shoes. This especially comes in handy when traveling. You can also put small accessories such as jewelry inside of your shoes.

Roll Your Clothing

Clothing takes up much less space when it’s tightly rolled rather than being folded. Tightly roll all of the clothes that are small enough to roll such as t-shirts and other non-stiff clothing items. Then lay them out in rows squeezed against each other. This also helps your clothing stay wrinkle-free. Stiffer items such as blazers and dress pants will need to be folded instead and placed above your rolled clothing.

Pack in Layers

Think of your suitcase as a layered cake by packing different items on different layers. Put your heaviest items such as shoes or winter coats on the very bottom layer. Layer two can be all of your rolled clothing. Layer three can be all of the remaining folded clothing stacked by alternating waists and hems. All of your other personal items can go on the very top layer. You can even use an empty garbage bag to put between your clean and dirty clothes during your travels.

Put Fragile Items in Center

Anything that can easily be broken shouldn’t be just thrown into a suitcase without any thought. We suggest putting fragile items in the very center and on the very top of rolled clothing. Other folded clothing can be placed on top of your fragile items (as long as they aren’t too heavy) for that extra layer of protection. Make sure everything is packed in tight so the fragile items don’t roll around while traveling.
